About Spider Veins and Reticular Veins

Spider veins are the small, thread-like colored veins that are most often seen on the surface of the skin. While many people seek treatment for spider veins for cosmetic reasons, spider veins also can result in substantial discomfort requiring therapy.

Reticular Veins
Reticular veins are small, one to three millimeter diameter, blue-green veins seen under the skin. These usually are found in the outer thighs, often extending to the back and around the knees. These are an underlying cause of spider veins, and therefore require treatment when spider veins are treated.
